Big Time Fun
It's great fun to play with Zentangle® in a larger form. This Zentangle inspired art (aka ZIA) is about 8x12 created on a sheet of heavy vellum bristol 11x14. I might just make a visit to my friend, Framin' Dave.
BEAUTIFUL! I could sit here for hours looking at all the fun little details! I'm guessing you started with the ribbons. Did you do any kind of string after that or just start filling in?
I enjoy your blog and your art so much but I'm not sure if I've posted before. :)
Absolutely fabulous! Love the Zedbra with the rounded white ends, the bilateral Coasters, the Inapods with stripey things instead of 'peas', the... oh my! --Margaret
thanks, everyone! Sara, I did start with the ribbons and did a string over all after that. I inked the ribbons first, then used the remaining string for adding tangles. The string is such an essential element, and really lays the groundwork that unifies the different tangles.
I love this piece. It is so flowing and dramatic and fun and dainty, all at the same time.
I promised a friend a large piece, and have been feeling intimidated about where to start. I love the idea of starting with a ribbon and then adding a string.
Oh WOW - quite a feast for the eyes this morning! Especially like the over-the-top ribbons - nice way to "tie" it all together. Lovely piece.

I think the thing I love most about your tangling is the contrast. There is always a dramatic twist and turn and yet a fragile beauty. Bravo!
